Camps, boathouses, and the season

The usual call is a survey before an old camp, garage, or boathouse is torn down or rebuilt. NYS DOL requires an asbestos survey before work disturbs building materials, regardless of construction date. Shoreline projects can involve Lake George Park Commission permits as well as the town building permit. The asbestos survey is a separate NYS DOL requirement.

Camps closed for the winter are a mold question when they are opened: a musty room, a wet crawl space, or staining under a roof. That assessment is a New York mold license job, written up on the mold page. Private wells on the west shore are a New York water-testing job, including coliform when the buyer or the health department asks for it.
